Andy’s unwavering dedication to community theatre over the course of several decades has made him the very definition of "Community Theatre."

Andy’s involvement spans every aspect of production, from performing on stage to managing  critical tasks behind the scenes.

As an Honorary Member of Willoughby Theatre Company, Andy is always eager to volunteer his time. In more recent years, his willingness to take on tasks such as driving transport, assisting with bump-ins and bump-outs, and supporting the mike team speaks volumes about his dedication.

Andy’s contributions are not limited to our organisation alone. He has also been actively involved with a number of other groups and community organisations, further exemplifying his commitment to the arts.

Andrew Davis (Andy) has been a long-standing member of Cumberland Gang Show for some fifty (50) years and has displayed outstanding service in performing arts for Scouts NSW.

Since joining the Cumberland Gang in 1975 as a cast member then as part of the production team, Andy held a number of positions including Production Coordinator for many years. Moving behind the scenes, he has worked as a long-standing member of the Stage Crew, Loft and Lighting teams as well as making a guest appearance on stage during our 40th year.

 Andy Davis has been involved in all aspects of Cumberland Gang Show as a:

  • Cast member – 1975 to 1982
  • Assistant Production Director – 1983 to 1994
  • Technical Designer – 1995
  • Stage Crew – 1996 to 1998
  • Lighting team – 1999 to 2024.

At all times Andy has demonstrated enthusiasm to assist in many aspects of the performing arts, being able to coordinate production and technical areas. He has shown excellence in being able to bring volunteer members to experience the performing arts.

In addition, Andy has also been a production and technical director of Hornsby Gang Show, for many years, in many positions for another performing arts Scout group in Northern Sydney.

He has always displayed a strong passion for performing arts and community theatre, in supporting volunteer members of Scouts to be able to perform on stage.

Andy has been involved in community theatre for multiple theatre companies for many years. He has been stage crew, stage manager, fly technician, sound and lighting, technical director, production manager, performer (singer, dancer, actor), builder and set designer for multiple productions.

Additionally, Andy has and continues to work as a mentor to many young performers and technicians – training VET students and new stage crew and training technicians in all aspects of technical aspect of theatre from moving sets to fly system to rigging to building and painting, designing innovative ways of making sets and props so that they fit in the required space and are easy to move and operate and creative and suit the scene - many of whom are now working professionally in the industry.

Andy has formed a collaboration between various musical theatre companies to foster sharing of resources and personnel – props, set pieces and knowledge being shared and he donates his own time and expertise willingly and freely to support all aspects of community theatre regardless of which company or theatre is asking.

To this day, Andy continues to actively support North Shore Theatre Company by providing material resources in the form of props and set pieces and additionally, volunteers to assist us for bump in and bump out of set construction and deconstruction during our three shows per year.

We cannot recommend Andy Davis to you highly enough.
