Ros English has been involved with Gosford Musical Society for more than 30 years, joining in 1985 as a Musical Director.

Ros has acted as rehearsal pianist for multiple shows, and played keyboards in the orchestra in multiple shows and has been Musical Director for many productions, such as Half a Sixpence, Me and My Girl, My Fair Lady, Brigadoon, Mame, Cabaret, Shout!, Oliver, Pajama Game, CATS, Jekyll & Hyde, Seussical the Musical and Crazy for You.

Ros takes delight and great pride in being a mentor and teacher to young GMS members and GMS orchestra members who wish to progress to become Musical Directors in their own right.

Ros has also been Musical Director for Central Coast Musical Theatre Company (Dinkum Assorted) and The Entrance Theatre Company (Oliver) and played in Grease for the then Brisbane Water Theatre Company. Ros has also played in the orchestra for Hair, Rent, Sweet Charity and Me and My Girl for Wyong Musical Theatre Company – all Central Coast based companies.

Ros joined Gosford Musical Society Committee in 1999 as a floor member and has been on GMS Committee ever since. Ros became President in 2004 and with the exception of 2013, has been President ever since.

During her time with GMS Ros has undertaken most roles in theatre – dressing, working backstage, spotlighting, catering assistant, sewing assistant and assisting in painting sets and props on many occasions. Ros also assists with every bump in and bump out of each production and sells programs when not in the pit or on stage. Ros has also been on stage in a few shows (Singing’ in the Rain, The Producers, Pit singing in Spamalot, Anything Goes, Young Frankenstein, and Music Man (and in the pit for that show as well).
